How do I charge a security deposit?

 

To charge a security deposit, you must first set up the security deposit amount in the unit file.  Each unit may have a security deposit amount entered in screen #4 of the Unit File.  Next, you must tell the Control file that you wish to begin charging the security deposit amount.  In Screen #1 of Commissions, Taxes & Charges there is a field labeled, "Security Deposits Default".  You must set this to either Balance (this means the security deposit amount is due when the balance of other reservation money is due), Deposit (this means the security deposit amount is due with the rental deposit) or Not Used.

 

A security deposit may also be charged or added during the reservation booking process.  On the Book Reservation screen, click in the text box to the right of the Deposit lable and two buttons become available.  The [Rental] and [Security].  Click [Security] and enter the dollar value for the security deposit you want to charge.

 

If the reservation is already booked you may go to Reservation Maintenance and choose the Add/Change/Delete security deposit option.  Retrieve the reservation.  Enter the in the Security Deposit Amount you want to charge and then click [OK].
