Rate definition records are contained in the Charge Rates, Discount Rates, Equipment Rates, Recurring Fees Rates and Unit Rates files. To access a menu of these rate files choose the Rate Definitions File Menu from the Files menu off the RMS Main menu. A season record is required for each rate. Neither the seasons file nor the rate definition file have meaning by themselves: they co-exist and are mutually dependent. Both weekly and daily amounts are contained in the Unit rate definition file, which also includes the reservation fees for each.
A seasons record may have more than one rate record assigned to it. The "standard" rate record is the default rate that appears when a reservation is booked. Additional rate records may be selected where appropriate, perhaps for discount rates.
Rate and seasons records apply to units, equipment, recurring fees and charges including travel insurance. Units are your rental properties. Equipment can be most anything else you rent, such as golf carts, canoes or horses. Recurring fees may include any charge that occurs regularly, like monthly management fees or quarterly pest control service. Recurring fees may be handled in another way: see the topic on the recurring fees file for a description. You have the option to use either rate records or flat fees with recurring fees and other charges.
