Seasons

Seasons and rates are used together to assign rates and their effective dates.  Seasons are defined in the seasons file; rates in the rate definition file.

Each year has its own seasons records.  At least one seasons record must be defined for each of the three years the system is tracking.  One record may have Summer, Fall, Holiday, Winter and Spring seasons.  Another might have Summer, Early Fall, Foliage, Thanksgiving, Early Winter, Christmas, Ski, Spring Festival, and Late Spring seasons. A season must be at least a full day. It can be just a single day or 365 days.  Gaps are not permitted between seasons - to help with this, you need only enter the start date for each season and RMS will fill in the ending date for the previous season automatically.  Seasons must be entered in order: spring can’t come after summer.

Each year must have its own seasons record(s).  It is necessary to define seasons records for each of the three years your system is tracking.

You may use the seasons supplement file to specify the minimum number of nights permitted for a reservation, if you have units with a minimum number of nights policy.  This file also allows you to designate which days of the week check-in is allowed.

The seasons information file is part of the control file.  It allows you to assign a default season to each unit.  Its screen offers a select list, which contains all defined seasons for the year for you to make your choice.
