About this Book

This Screens section of the Help Files contains information on the screens in the Resort Management System.  It may be used in two ways:

1.  To get assistance with a screen you are currently using.

2.  Or to find a particular screen.

Look up the screen title under the help index tab.  Select the topic and refer to the "Before you begin..." section.  This will list the selections you must make to reach the desired screen.  It may also describe prerequisites for entry.  For example before entering Units you must enter Owners in the Owners File.

Each screen description in this book contains general information about the screen function and detail information about items on the screen.

The screen information is organized with the following headings:

This screen allows you to:

Understand the purpose of the screen.

Before you begin:

Lists any information you should know or have previously accomplished before using this screen.

Item descriptions:

Describes options and any special items on the screen.

Prompt Descriptions:

Describes the information needed by that prompt.

Using a Screen:

All screens in the Resort Management System share some basic features.  Keyboard conventions and standard prompt conventions are explained in the "Conventions" section.  Note that "Conventions" is a link.  If a text is in color in the Help files it is most likely a link. You can click on the link and go directly to a linked article, section, or screen description to find out more about that process.  These shortcuts are called "jumps" and they are programmed in your RMS Help Files for your convenience.  You may also see a button in your help files that acts as a shortcut or jump to a related subject.  It might look like this:   See also Movement Keys

The terms explained below describe the parts that make up a typical screen:

Date:

The system date that you entered on the OPTIMUM screen will appear in the lower right corner.  This is the date used by any prompts that allow a default date.  Each terminal can have its own system date.  If no date is entered the computer date is used.

Company Name:

The company name is established in the Control File.  This name will appear on all screens and most reports.  The company name cannot be changed without a new system access code.

User Name:

The user name or user ID entered when logging into OPTIMUM.  This name is set up as RMS and RMS2 when the system is shipped, but may be changed by your system supervisor.

Screen Title:

The description of the major function of the screen.  This name is listed in the help index in the "Screens" book.

Entry Area:

The text box where information is entered.  Most of this information is entered by the operator in response to labels and messages.  Some of the information is automatically displayed.

Prompt Message:

The prompt message appears on the status bar at the bottom of RMS to help the operator determine the required entry.

Error Message:

Error messages are displayed in a pop-up message box.  This is a brief message telling you that your entry was not valid.  It may be cleared by clicking on [OK] in the pop-up box, then proceeding with a correction.
