RMS can automatically charge a cleaning fee for a standard reservation to the owner or to the reservation guest. A cleaning charge record must be created in the Charges file. The number of the record is then put into a setting in the Control File on screen #1 of General Accounting. The amount to charge is stored in the unit file. Different amounts can be charged for a standard reservation, an owner or a friend of owner. All of these values are stored in the unit file. In Commissions, Taxes and Charges, screen #3, a setting determines if standard reservations will automatically be charged the cleaning fee. The charge can be changed when the reservation is being booked. A value on the reservation booking screen will say "clean: owner pays" or "clean: reservation pays." The options to choose "None" is also available if there is no cleaning charge for the reservation.
If cleaning charges are paid by the owner and the charges go up or change and a reservation was booked prior to the price hike, the cleaning charges can be reposted with the new prices. This option is available on the Reservation Maintenance menu, Post Cleaning Charges.
